CONTINUING THE JOURNEY

Just prior to leaving the state of Nevada, a quick stop-over in Las Vegas to pick up a few camper parts which, once again, as a NEWBIE, I messed up. Thankfully, they had all the parts I needed and within 3 minutes, the parts were replaced back on the camper. Time to head for Arizona

I actually DID NOT feel very welcome in Arizona. For starters, the price of gas at the pump throughout the entire state was between 4.52 and 5.52. WTF?? Their highways are TERRIBLE!!! Broken, no repairs noted throughout my journey. And since I have already been to the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, Winslow, Phoenix, and Tucson, what else could they possibly have??

Here's what they got. I have no idea what that "Thing" is, nor did I care to find out. All I could think of was an old John Carpenter movie of the same title OR, a James Brown song entitled...."get up off of dat thing". I'm pretty sure that either of those two options have a much better entertainment value.

I believe Arizona is home to several airplane graveyards. Commercial jets, military aircraft and so on all relocated to these holding facilities and parts are extracted and refurbished for use once again. Amazing to see hundreds of these aircraft just idle and parked.

How long does it take to strip a Boeing 747?? I have no idea, but I suspect quite a bit of time.

A very quick road trip through Southern New Mexico and I only stopped for gas and lunch. Heading very quickly for Southwest Texas, along the Mexican border. Years ago, spent a brief bit of time in Santa Fe and would really like to return someday. Perhaps a nice destination for next Spring.

The Lone Star state. Well, I decided to head for this little artsy, bohemian town called Marfa. Perhaps you've heard of this place. There's a piece of art located along the barren highway that is just plain odd. But before you get to Marfa, you pass through El Paso. And you must pass through this.

An immigration check-point. You must stop, show them ID, and state that you are not harboring any illegal immigrants. I thought for sure they would pull me over and check the contents of the camper. However, I passed through without incident. First time ever experiencing that sort of thing..

Lenny made a new friend and his new friend insisted on getting in the photo with Lenny. Lenny wants everyone to know that in spite of his "devilish ways", he does NOT WEAR Prada. My take on the town of Marfa......ehhh!! I didn't stay and ended up camping overnight in the next town. Alpine. Our next set of travels takes us through Arkansas, Tenn, and finally good ole North Carolina and heading for West Jefferson and Asheville.

That Prada store in the middle of nowhere! How strange! Lenny's haircut looks great and ready for summer. Glad to hear the journey is "officially" under way. Have fun!

Yes to Santa Fe! Such a great place. Also you should make time for Sedona/Oak Creek Canyon if you are forced to drive through AZ again.
